SAG prepared a market and financial feasibility study for a hotel and conference center in Manhattan, Kansas. Community leaders believed that the City of Manhattan had the ability to compete with other Kansas destinations in the larger meetings industry. Market research indicated there was sufficient market support for the development of a conference center as long as the center was within walking distance to full-service hotel rooms, offered the quality level desired by the target market, offered from 10,000 to 20,000 square feet of contiguous ballroom space, and was within walking distance to Kansas State University and the Aggieville District. The target market indicated a 150-room full-service hotel connected to a conference center was desirable.
