SAG’s involvement in Tuscaloosa began with completing a conference center feasibility study for the City of Tuscaloosa. While the findings revealed substantial market support for a facility offering a 15,000 square foot ballroom and 5,000 square feet of meeting space, the financial implications with developing and operating the facility led City leadership to discontinue the pursuit of the facility.
Recently, the City approached the University requesting a potential partnership in funding an expanded Bryant Conference Center that would ultimately offer the recommended ballroom square feet recommended in the initial analysis. SAG is assisting the University of Alabama with understanding the feasibility of expanding the Bryant Conference Center. The facility currently offers approximately 20,000 square feet of leasable space and the University is contemplating expanding their largest meeting/ballroom from 10,000 square feet to 15,000 square feet. Our analysis included estimating the number of new events, estimating: lost revenues due to expansion, financial operations, economic impact, development budget and development timeline .
